Kwang Gae Tul

Kwang Gae is the named after the famous Gwang-Gae-Toh-Wang, the 19th Century King of the Koguryo Dynasty, who regained all the lost territories including the greater part of Manchuria. The diagram represents the expansion and recovery of lost territory. The 39 movements refer to the first two figures of 391 A.D., the year he came to the throne.

There are no connecting, continuous motion whlist performing this pattern. However, there are consecutive and slow motion execution of movements and techniques. This pattern is performed with Sine wave motion.

Black signifies

"Opposite to White, therefore, signifies the proficiency and maturity in Tae Kwon-Do. It also indicates the wearer's impreviousness to darkness and fear" - ITF page 373.
